The school serves the villages of Alves, Dallas, Dyke, Logie, Kinloss (including children of RAF personnel) and Findhorn (including the nearby Findhorn Community).[2] Also there are the three Forres primary schools.
All pupils are obliged to wear a uniform of black and white dress, with no short skirts, revealing tops, high heels, or football shirts.
Forres Academy is sited on the edge of the town, with spacious, open grounds and easy access to the countryside. Facilities include a large Library Resources Centre, a games hall, 2 gymnasia and limited access to the swimming pool on the same site. The assembly hall was recently refurbished with a modern and highly effective lighting and sound system. There are five areas of playing fields which provide hockey, football, rugby and cricket pitches. The 2 gyms and games hall are fully equipped to allow indoor sport and physical education training.
